Got back from a decent trip to King's Canyon National Park in California, the US. While there are some nice waterfalls and spectacularly large mountains and canyons, the parks layout leaves something to be desired. Driving 30 miles around twisty cliffside roads to get to another place in the park can look great sometimes, but take quite a while and isn't what I expected from something like a camping trip. Not to mention that the trails, when they are there, are barely maintained and require a purchasable ($11.95) map to even find half the time.
On top of it all, spot fires seem incredibly common. I trekked through more drifts of ash than I've ever seen, evidence of a bush fire there, a tree on fire here. It wasn't pleasant to walk through, and made it seem like the entire park was half ready to be set ablaze entirely and at any moment. So not the funnest trip, I'd recommend the wonderful Yosemite Valley or even lesser known areas like Muir Woods and Burney falls for anyone wanting to see California's wilderness.
Still, almost two hundred pictures were taken! They'll take a while to sort through, but that's part of the fun anyway
